365: Barbara Thurston

Thank God for everything

12.4.15 You know I use to not like talking to people I don't know but I think God for putting me in the job I'm in because I talk to lot's of people everyday. I get to share God with some of the people I talk to. I just ask that you pray for the people that I get to talk to because I work @ the courthouse and most of them come in there for various reason and it usually involves giving up money. Needless to say most of them are not very happy but I get to talking to them and by the time they leave we are both laughing.
“We pray for the big things and forget to give thanks for the ordinary, small (and yet really not small) gifts.” ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Faith in Community
*Give thanks for even the smallest things-We always want to thank God for the big house, big screen TV and the good car. But the big things in our lives are not the most important things.
*Give thanks all the time-Jesus not only gave thanks for meals but many other things. Did you know that everything you have was made possible because of God?
*Give thanks in all circumstances-It’s easy to give thanks when things are going well, but we also need to give thanks when we are facing challenging situations. We must have a heart of thanksgiving in difficult times.
*Give thanks publicly before men and women-Some people are quick to say they pray privately because they are shy or they don’t want to share their prayers in public. But when you pray publicly, you honor God. You are saying you are not ashamed of God and that he supplies all your needs. “We can’t be private in our faith, not when the Lord has been public with us,”. “God has been too good to you for you to keep silent.”
*Give thanks unto God-When we wake up in the morning, the first thing out of our mouths should be “Thank you, God.” We should also thank God for our body size, our height, being young, old, retired and even the teeth we have to brush. Think about it: There is someone out there wishing they could be a size 2 or a plus size. There are even people wishing they had teeth to brush or hair to comb. If you have them, thank God.
So thank God for everything. God is in all circumstances, the good the bad and the ugly.
Lord I come to You thinking You for everything You provide for me. I think You for the good times as well as the bad. The bad things that happen to us in life is just You helping us learn a lesson. Lord please be with the customers I have @ work most are going thru bad times, but they are human just like I am, and Lord we never know when we will be in that line with these people. Lord please be with my facebook family and friends and know I love You. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

God's songs

12.2.15 Do you ever just walk down the street and a song pops in your head? This happens to me every day and I walk down the street singing Amazing Grace or whatever God puts in my head @ the time. There's nothing like walking down the street singing God's praises.

Psalm 33:1-3
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

Psalm 96:1-2
Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

Psalm 104:33
I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

The next time you feel the tug @ your heart to raise your voice up to God then go ahead and just do it. I come to You Lord thinking You for putting the songs in my head so that I may walk down the street and worship You. When I walk down the street and sing to You Lord I love our time alone. Please be with my facebook family and friends and know I love You. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

God's clouds

12.3.15 Have you ever gotten up in the morning and looked into the sky and think wow God is awesome. This morning I got up and looked outside and saw the moon and then the clouds were floating by not to mention the beautiful stars. It was so awesome and I couldn't take my eyes off all of God's Glory He put in the sky for us.

Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. Revelation 14:14

Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:17

Clouds” are used throughout the Old and New Testament as a matter of evidence Pillar of a Cloud - a Tornado witnessing to the fearful and awesome presence of the all powerful “Almighty God”. In the Old Testament they were physically visible clouds, full of power (lightning and earth shaking thunder) and fearful authority. When the children of Israel left the bondage of Egypt, the fearful presence of God went with them in the form of a cloud.

When Moses received the ten commandments of the covenant from God, the evidence of God’s presence was the cloud, and again, the “devouring fire” that was associated with that cloud. God’s presence in the cloud was not a “light puffy” one.

“Behold, he cometh with clouds!” Today these clouds are the spiritual clouds of God’s true people when they gather together to worship and witness of the great mercy and love of Jesus Christ in saving them and purifying their hearts to the obedience of the faith!

So tomorrow when you wake up take a look @ the sky and see what kind of art work God has made for us. I just love looking @ all the things God has made for us. Lord I want to thank You for all of creation so that we can see the beauty that You have put on this earth for us to look @. Lord please watch over my facebook family and friends and know I love You and I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

Why is it important to Worship God

12.1.15 Why is it so important to worship God
Worship is important because, as Tozer once said, "...it's the reason Christ came, the reason He was crucified and the reason He rose again." Furthermore, the entire book of Revelation concerns the importance of worship and what God thinks of worship. Listen to Revelation 4:8-11 as an example: "The four and twenty elders fall down before Him that sat on the throne, and worship Him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things and for Thy pleasure they are and were created." Other pertinent Scriptures are Revelation 11:16 and 19:4.
Worship is critical because it's the key to God's presence. It's what brings us intimacy with the Father. In other words, worship is a two-way communication. We come into His presence by loving, adoring and exalting Him. He then makes Himself known by communicating His Love and His inspiration (and revelation) back to us. This, of course, results in inexpressible joy for us.
This daily communion is what allows us to endure difficult circumstances. If we are hearing from the Lord and keeping our eyes only on Him, we can withstand anything. Worship, then, is not only the key to intimacy, it's also the key to withstanding trials and problems and restoring the joy of our salvation.
Our heart is what matters when we worship, not our voice. In other words, we can only worship God to the degree to which we know Him-the degree to which our heart is filled with love for Him. When we really know and love Him, it becomes easy and natural for us to worship. When we love other things more than the Lord, then we'll end up serving two gods. (Exodus 20:3; Jeremiah 25:6) Anything that is more important to us than the Lord - money, other people, careers, status, beauty, sports, etc. - becomes another god.
The goal and purpose of worship is to magnify, exalt, love and adore the only true God, Jesus Christ. In other words, worship is simply a prayer of relationship in which the "created" lauds and magnifies the "Creator." It's our expression of His worthiness. When we worship, we join the angels, the cherubim, the seraphim, the prophets, the apostles and the host of heaven falling down on their faces and exalting the one and only true God. Listen to Revelation 7:11-12, "And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God, saying, Amen! Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might be unto our God forever and ever. Amen."
So that being said, "next time you Worship God, truly Worship God with your whole heart." Let God feel that you mean it, let Him know that You truly do worship Him.
God I come to You truly wanting and desiring to worship You. I want to worship You alone. Lord please be with my facebook family and friends and know I love You. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.
