Make God's business your business

5.19.15 God's business should be your business
“Again I saw something meaningless under the sun: There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. For whom am I toiling,” he asked, “and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?” This too is meaningless – a miserable business!” - Ecc.4:7-8

So what kind of business are you in today? restaurant, healthcare, teacher, etc...
***If you’re not in God’s business you are in a
meaningless and a miserable business***

-If you get into God’s business it doesn’t matter what
your occupation is – you will be satisfied and

So you ask what is God's business? Well let's see what God's business is: -God’s business is the redemption business.

JN. 3:16 “For God so love the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life.”

2Pet. 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.”

Jesus even commanded His disciples to carry on with the same attitude…

Mat.28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

*God is not willing that anyone should perish in their sins…Anything thing that leads people to repentance is God’s Business.

-The salvation of souls is God’s business
-Missions is Gods business.
-God is in the redemption business!

Are you in God’s business?

-If your not you are in a meaningless and a miserable business!

Are you in the redemption business?

God has no time for pretenders but He has great blessings in store for those involved in His business.

While studying tonight I came across this story and I thought I'd share it:
Bob carworth a ford dealer

Just suppose Bob ran into some trouble...He cannot sell a Ford!
(His staff wanting to keep there jobs suggest- You need more advertizing!)
-He puts up signs everywhere
-Radio commercials
-TV Comercials
-Everywhere you turn you see "Bob Carsworth -get a Ford that’s worth something!"
-He’s still having trouble so He calles the muckety mucks in Detroit
-When they came to visit...
-They saw signs everywhere
-They Saw the Tv adds
-They heard the radio adds
-They read the mailers
*This Guy looks good - He should be selling a lot of Fords!
-They Get to the car lot
*-There is not a ford on the whole place
-Chevy, Honda, Christler, Dodge -But no Fords!
-“Didn’t you see the signs?” -Bob quips..
-The Radio?
-The flyers?
** executives would be mad and return to Detroit to revoked the dealers right to sell Fords.
*You cannot sell fords -UNless you have fords to sell!
Friends many Churches are like that crazy ford dealer…
-Signs everywhere.
-adds are in the news paper.
-Some even have radio programs.
But when people come looking for Jesus they quickly find out that it was a false advertisement….
-They leave disgusted and disappointed
God is not in the pretending business – He is in the redemption business!

Wow think about that for a minute are we in God's business or are we pretending?

a)Programs are offered

-Youth programs
-Family nights
-Church Outings

*-Lots of Activities but lost people leave frustrated asking, “WHERE IS GOD!”

-Programs are good if they point people to Jesus!

I have to say Bethlehem Baptist Church on Preston Highway has programs but the programs we have point people to Jesus. If you go out of the Church asking where is God then maybe the question should be where were you at? Maybe you was thinking about your cell phone or perhaps lunch well come to Bethlehem and you won't go out asking where was God.

Get into God’s business of redemption and you’ll be in the most rewarding business of all!

God I come to you thinking you for a Church is about your business and being part of a Church who isn't afraid to tell it like it is when they tell others about you. Like a Pastor friend of ours use to say put your steel toe boots on because I may be stepping on your toes today. I think you for bringing Brother Mike and his family to us and it was all in your timing, sometimes we get inpatient waiting for things but all we have to do is ask and then wait for you to answer. I want to pray that if there is anyone reading this that is not doing your business they ask someone what they can do to do your business. Now please be with my facebook family and friends and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen

How do you show God you love Him?

5.18.15 How do you let God know you love Him?

1. The first way is by singing to him.

You've probably already noticed in life that music and love go together: That's because music moves our hearts, and it comes from the heart. It's not something intellectual as much as it is emotional. There are thousands and thousands of love songs. Did you know that more songs have been written about Jesus Christ than any other topic in the world? Christianity is a singing faith. It's a singing faith because Christianity isn't about religion. It's about love. It's about the God who loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you, and He wants you to love Him back. What more meaningful way could there be to express that love than in song?

Psalm 147:7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises on the harp to our God,

2. The second way you can express love to God is. By TALKING with Him.

Deep communications helps our relationship grow. And when we don't communicate well, our relationship suffers. Because a relationship never stands still. It's either growing or decaying. The same is true with God. On the days when you have deep, significant talk with God your relationship grows. On the days when you have very little or no communications with God your relationship decays. Talk to God with prayers of praise; and intercession; confession of where you made mistakes; searching; looking for comfort; and prayers of thanksgiving when you see signs of God in your day.

3. A third way you can express your love to God is by LISTENING to Him.

Listening is one of the greatest gifts you can give to somebody. When you actively listen to somebody (meaning that you aren't just letting them talk, but you are focusing on them), you're saying, You matter to me. I value what you have to say. The same is true with God. When you listen for God you're saying, God, You matter to me. I value what You have to say. Prayer is not just about talking to God. It's also about being quiet and letting God speak to us. Usually we're in too much of a hurry. One of the most important steps you can take in listening to God is to set aside time for Him. Maybe the reason some of us can't hear God is that our lives are so full and so noisy, that there isn't room for God.

There are lots of ways God speak to us. The obvious one is the Bible: God's Word. I believe this Book was inspired by God, and it is one of the key ways He chooses to speak to us.
God speaks to us through the experiences we go through in life.
God speaks to us through trials: they tend to get our attention more than ordinary experiences.
God speaks to us through other people, through the advice we get from godly people.
God speaks to us through impressions. They can be the Holy Spirit working in us. But we need to find out if an impression is from God or not, so we aren't misled. The Bible says that we need to test our impressions, to get confirmation.

4. The fourth way you can express your love to God is by PUBLICLY IDENTIFYING with Him.

Expressing your love for God means not being ashamed of Him at work, at home, and in your neighborhood. Jesus said it like this Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

1. He saved us from the effects of being separated from God (by sin). Everything you've ever done wrong was paid for on the cross so you are forgiven by God, and adopted by Him.
2. Jesus saves us from the power of sin. He breaks the grip it would otherwise have on us. He gives us the power to be able to make changes. He empowers us to change things in our life we never thought we could change.
3. Jesus promises us life in heaven where there will be no sin, no sorrow, no suffering, no pain, and no grief.

5. The fifth way to express love to God is by BEING COMMITTED to Him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”

There are five things we can do to show our commitment to God.

1. Give your life to Jesus Christ.

2. Commit your life to God's family, the body of Christ, by joining a church family.

3. Choose to grow spiritually and become more and more like Jesus Christ in your character.

4. Use your talents and gifts to help others. This is ministry.

5. Share the good news with other people and fulfill the mission and purpose God put you on this earth to do.

6. Finally the sixth way you can tell God you love Him is by GIVING to Him.

2 Corinthians 8 Just as you excel in faith, in speech, in knowledge, and in complete earnestness, see that you also excel in the grace of giving. I am not commanding you but I want to test the sincerity of your love.

There are basically two kinds of people who give cheerful givers and fearful givers.

Cheerful givers say, I'm going to give back to God from what He has given me. It all belongs to Him anyway. I wouldn't have anything without God so I'm going to give back to Him and rely on Him to take care of all my needs.

God I come to you asking that you give me the desire to practice more of these so that I can show you that I love you. I know I fail you with so much but I know you love me. I want to tell you I'm sorry for the ways I fail you and I will strive to do better. God please be with my facebook friends and family and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

Put God in the driver's seat

5.17.15 Put God in the driver seat
"If you will only obey me and let me help you, then you will have plenty to eat. But if you keep turning away and refusing to listen, you will be destroyed by your enemies. I, the LORD, have spoken!" - Isaiah 1:19-20

We must not make the mistake of thinking that surrendering to God is something we do once and never again. Total surrender to God is not a state of being which we can achieve and then ignore. It is a moment-by-moment way of living that we must practice every day of our lives. Some are better at it than others, though with practice, each of us can become more experienced at living this way. Yet, even those who have become very good at daily surrender still need to put it into action at every opportunity.

We should not think that surrender is an abstract, intangible concept with little practical application to our daily lives. Every choice you make, no matter how small, presents a real opportunity for you to surrender your desires to God and to seek His will. The practical application is this - before you contemplate the decision before you, pause for a moment and speak with God about the issue at hand. With every choice, there will be something you desire and something you do not. Tell God that what you want is not as important as His will and that you will accept and embrace His will, even if it is not what you desire for yourself. Next, ask God to reveal His will to you. Pray for the wisdom and discernment to know what direction He would have you take. Ask Him to reveal the paths you should follow, and hide those which you should not.

Once you have done all this, take some quiet time alone and carefully listen for God to speak to you about the issue. Be patient, and await the arrival of that sense of peace which informs us that we have understood the message which God is trying to convey. Do not act until you have that peace to guide you unless the matter is urgent and you need to move quickly. Even then, do not act until you have at least taken a few moments to call upon God and request His help.

“Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am.” (Matthew 16:24 MSG)

Every morning when you wake up, you have a decision to make: Who’s going to be in charge of your life? Who’s going to be in control — you or God? Who’s going to call the shots — you or God? Every day, moment by moment, you are making that decision. When you choose to make yourself the manager of your own life, it causes conflict, confusion, and stress.

Sermon Central said:
I. Our Heavenly Father is in the driver’s seat.
A. If He is not,
1. He is not God at all.
2. We are at the mercies of every storm.
3. We have only feeble human devices to save us.
4. We have no real hope and are part of a system that is either winding down to a stop or about to burn up, depending on who you ask.
B. But, because He is in control,
1. We have hope for the future. Heb. 6:19
2. We have guidance and security in this life.
3. We can sing, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.”
C. There is great cause for joy, even in time of tension and strife. Text.
1. Our labor is not in vain. I Cor. 15:58
2. Followers of Jesus find peace and happiness in the worst of times. ILLUS.: Acts 16:25.
3. Our universe is ruled by history’s most just and benevolent Ruler.
II. Not only is God in the driver’s seat, He has a map and knows just where we are going.
A. The entire universe proceeds according to a plan.
1. We depend on this “natural law” to formulate our scientific systems and theories.
2. If we see footprints in the sand, we know someone else is on our island.
3. A plan presupposes a Planner. The universe is full of God’s footprints.
B. His plan is seen in Ephesians 1:3-10
1. Not an afterthought or “trial and error.”
2. God, Who planned the entire universe, also has a plan for His people.
3. This universe is headed for a divine climax. All things will be summed up and find their meaning in Christ.
C. God is working out His plan even now:
1. He began with His first creative act.
2. We may not always see His plan clearly, but He has one and is working it.
3. ILLUS.: Joseph may not have seen God’s plan, but afterwards acknowledged it. Gen. 45:8
III. God will reach His destination. He will not be defeated:
A. Evil can only win temporary victories:
1. He allows us free will.
2. In the past He winked at sin. Acts 17:30, 31.
3. Ultimately, He will triumph. Phil 2:10, 11
4. The judgement and victory of God are made certain by the resurrection of Jesus.
B. In the working out of His plan, God will not abandon any of us.
1. His willingness to give His Son proves this. Rom. 8:32
2. God will see us through life’s trials. Phil. 1:6
3. ILLUS.: poem “Only God is Enough. “
C. The entire creation awaits the completion of God’s plan. Rom. 8:22
1. All living things are cursed by death and disease. This shall stop.
2. The world will be just as God intended it to be.
3. ILLUS.: poem “This Is My Father’s World” v. 3
CONC.: When life seems to get the best of you, as it occasionally does all of us, just remember our God is in the driver’s seat. Let us recommit ourselves to doing His will and following His leading.

Only God Is Enough
Only God is enough when we feel the world rock,
When we tremble and reel from the earthquakes shock.
When the vision recedes and the world’s heart bleeds,
only God is enough.
Lesser and trivial values suffice when
life is exacting no toruting price.
But, in that dark day, we are driven to pray.
Only God is enough.
When earth’s lights are fading and stricken men call,
To say less than God is to say nothing at all.
Life’s ultimate hour cries for ultimate power.
Only God is enough.

My Father’s World v. 3

This is my father’s world,
The battle is not done,
Jesus who died will be satisfied,
And earth and Heaven be one.

Dear God I come to you asking that every time I try to be in control of my own life that I make sure to put you in the drivers seat instead of myself. I love you and I know that you do a much better job of keeping me on track then I do. Now God please be with my facebook family and friends and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.
