Life changing power

6.4.15 Life Changing Power

I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
—Galatians 2:20

Look @ what Billy Graham had to say: One day, by a simple act of faith, I decided to take Jesus Christ at His word. I could not come by way of the intellect alone; no one can. That does not mean that we reject reason. God has given us minds and the ability to reason wherever reason is appropriate, but the final and decisive step is taken by faith. I came by faith. Does it work when a person comes, repenting of his sins, to receive Christ by faith? I can only tell you that it worked in my own life. Something did happen to me. I didn’t become perfect, but the direction of my life was changed. I found a new dimension to life. I found a new capacity to love that I had never known before.

Being a Christian doesn't mean your going to be perfect but it means your forgiven and we need to strive to be more like Jesus.

Ephesians 1:13 ... You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God. 14 The Spirit also makes us sure that we will be given what God has stored up for his people. Then we will be set free, and God will be honored and praised.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 We must thank God at all times for you, friends, you whom the Lord loves. For God chose you as the first to be saved by the Spirit's power to make you his holy people and by your faith in the truth.

Ephesians chapter 4:22 So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to-the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires. 23 Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, 24 and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy. 25 No more lying, then! Each of you must tell the truth to the other believer, because we are all members together in the body of Christ. 26 If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day. 27 Don't give the Devil a chance. 28 If you used to rob, you must stop robbing and start working, in order to earn an honest living for yourself and to be able to help the poor. 29 Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you. 30 Don't make God's Spirit sad. The Spirit makes you sure that someday you will be free from your sins. 31 Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others. Don't yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude. 32 Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ.

So the above verses say to get rid of your old ways and make new decisions just like God will reveal to you. If you get angry with someone don't stay angry all day put it in the past, because for 1 thing if something happened to the other person then you could never make it right again. Be the bigger man and make things right between the 2 of you. Remember also the tongue is a deadly weapon, that being said watch what you say to people because you don't want say words that can hurt someone. There's so many people who deal with bully's and look what happens sometimes, they commit suicide because they don't feel loved. But being Christians we need to show the love of God to everyone. I know some people may be hard to love but look what Jesus did. Do you think we deserve what He did for us, He died for us so that we could live. Also don't think your going to change over night and God doesn't expect you to but He wants you to do the best you can.

Ephesians 2:1 Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins. 2 You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God's anger just like everyone else. 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much, 5 that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's special favor that you have been saved!)

“He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3

Just from this one verse we see the life changing power of God’s Word. This person is characterized:
Like a tree—a symbol of strength and uprightness
Planted by the rivers of water—fixed and abiding in the refreshing rivers of water
That brings forth its fruit in its season—a fruitful life
Whose leaf also shall not wither—with roots so deep into the Living Water, even the heat of trials shall not cause this tree’s leaves to wither
And whatever he does shall prosper—a prosperous life

God I come to you thinking you for being in my life and loving me enough to forgive all the mistakes I make. I strive to be more like Jesus but you know I am a human and humans have a tendency to fail you, but with your love and help you will mold me into the person you want me to be. I think you for my facebook family and friends. Now God I ask that you be with my facebook family and friends and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

10 Things the Church Puts Ahead of Reaching People

6.3.15 I found something interesting while I was trying to figure out what God wanted me to talk about tonight. Look @ what I found:

10 Things the Church Puts Ahead of Reaching People

by joshdaffern

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Location – Some people are tied to an address. Church is an address, a location. I’ve seen churches die because their people moved away and they weren’t willing to reach the new folks in their neighborhood.

Buildings/Architecture – For some, the bricks and mortar are what make the church sacred, not the people. At my first church when our youth group exploded in growth we had to move into the sanctuary because it was the only room big enough for us. We had some ladies that were so concerned that every Thursday morning they would come into the sanctuary after our Wednesday nights and look up and down the pews for knicks or scratches. They were more concerned with the architecture then the people that architecture was designed to meet.

Are there any people out there like that more concerned if a pew gets a scratch then worrying about the people who should be filling those pews?

Tradition – You knew this one would get in here. Tradition has killed many a church. When churches pursue the past more than they pursue people, that church will die. Many times preachers will preach on the last seven words of Jesus, the seven phrases Jesus said while on the cross. I’ll never forget what a Bible college professor told me once. He said, “Do you know what the last seven words of a church are? We’ve never done it that way before.”

Have you ever heard those words before or maybe you're guilty of those words,m We've never done it that way before.

Music preferences – This one splits up more churches than perhaps anything else. We’re fine reaching the next generation for Jesus, as long as they like our music our way. That’s putting music preferences above people. And I’m not saying the contemporary music is the final answer. It’s not a particular style of music but the heart behind that’s willing to give up musical preferences to reach the next generation for Jesus. I’ve said this before, but when I’m older and I’ve got great-grandkids running around, I’m not sure what kind of church music they’ll like, but I guarantee you I probably won’t like it. The question is will I be willing to put reaching others ahead of my musical preferences?

Well I've heard people say I wish they'd play the old hymns and I'm not knocking that because i love the old hymns but I'm like the above paragraph we need to focus on the next generation.

Programs – The early church reached their world for Christ and became the dominant religion in the Roman Empire without Sunday School, without VBS, without youth groups or children’s choirs. Church programs are designed to reach people, but we can never let them become more important than people.

Control – Some churches are stifled because there’s a few families in control, and they simply don’t want to give up control. They put control ahead of reaching people.

Are you a control person well maybe you need to pray that God will be more in control then you are.

Social Status – The Bible says that in Christ there are no slaves or free or Greeks or Barbarians but we are all one in Christ. However, too many churches aren’t willing to reach people outside of their racial, economic, or social status.

Cleanliness – Some churches aren’t willing to do the heavy lifting required, they’re not willing to roll up their sleeves and embrace the messes of the world. If we’re not willing to get a little dirty, we’ll never reach the world.

Status Quo – Some churches simply don’t want to change. They’re good. The light bill is paid, the buildings are paid off, there’s enough of a crowd to give the illusion that something is happening. Some churches aren’t willing to embrace the change necessary to reach people.

Are you someone that doesn't like change well you will have to just go with the flow because times are a changin

Religion – Put it all together, some churches put religion above people. They put their rituals, their observances, their routines, their beliefs, their ministry structures ahead of people. They feel like they’re loving God, but they don’t realize that you can’t truly love God if you don’t love people.

Remember it's a relationship not a religion, if you don't have a relationship with Jesus then all the religion in the world is void.

Matthew 28:19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

God I come to you asking you to make us a loving nation where we won't worry about the Status Quo, We will worry about people having a relationship with you instead of worrying more about religion because we know without you all the religion in the world would be void. God if there are some who want to be in control remind them that you are the One in control and I want to think you for being in total control of my life. God if someone looks down on someone that may come into the Church building remind them that we are all alike in your eyes. God I want to think you for the changes that need to be made to reach the next generation. Now please keep watch over my facebook family and friends and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

I want to know Him more

6.2.15 I want to know you more
Just the time I feel, that I've been caught in the mire of self
Just the time I feel, my mind's been bought by worldly wealth
That's when the breeze begins to blow, I know the Spirit's call
And all my worldly wanderings, just melt into His love

Oh, I want to know You more, deep within my soul I want to know you
Oh, I want to know You, to feel your heart and know Your mind
Looking in Your eyes, stirs up within me
Cries that say, "I want to know You, oh, I want to know You, more

And when my daily deeds ordinarily lose life and song
My heart begins to bleed, sensitivity to Him is gone
I've run the race but set my own pace and face a shattered soul
Now, the gentle arms of Jesus, warm my hunger to behold

Oh, I want to know You more, deep within my soul I want to know You
Oh, I want to know You, to feel Your heart and know Your mind
Looking in Your eyes, stirs up within me
Cries that say, "I want to know You, oh, I want to know You

And I would give my final breath
To know You in Your death and resurrection
Oh, I want to know You more
Oh, I want to know You, to know You more
Oh, I want to know You more

God loves you and created you to know him personally. ...
Man is sinful and separated from God, so we cannot know him personally or experience his love because of our sin. ...
Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. ...
We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know.

“For my determined purpose is that I may ... progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly.” (Philippians 3:10)

Rick Warren said: You were made to live in relationship with God, and if you think you can be joyful without getting to know him better, you’re just fooling yourself. Happiness is found in getting to know God a little bit better every day. There is a difference in knowing about someone and knowing someone. I know more about Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian than I want to, but I don’t really know them. I know my wife and I know my kids because I spend time with them. I have a relationship with them. You don’t get to know God by accident. It’s a “determined purpose.” It’s something you have to do something about. You have to invest your time in it. But, we get too busy, and busyness destroys relationships. It destroys your relationship with your family, and it destroys your relationship with God.
To get to know Jesus, you’ve got to spend time with him. If you want to spend time with him, you’ve got to make time for him. Just set aside 10 or 15 minutes of focused time with God in the morning, and make sure you and your mind are not busy. Just be still, and it will make all the difference in the world.

What is something you do every day for at least 15 minutes? (Watch TV, Play Video Games etc...) Is it more important than spending time with God?
How do you need to adjust your schedule so that you can make time to spend with God? (Get up earlier, turn the TV and or Video Player)
What are the distractions that keep you too busy to spend time with God? (Telephone, Kids etc...)

“How can we turn our knowledge about God into knowledge of God? The rule for doing this is simple but demanding. It is that we turn each Truth that we learn about God into matter for meditation before God, leading to prayer and praise to God.”
― J.I. Packer, Knowing

“We must know before we can love. In order to know God, we must often think of Him; and when we come to love Him, we shall then also think of Him often, for our heart will
be with our treasure.”
― Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God

“When you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side. If He does not show Himself, nothing you can do will enable you to find Him. And, in fact, He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others-not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition. Just as sunlight, though it has no favourites, cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror as clearly as a clean one.

You can put this another way by saying that while in other sciences the instruments you use are things external to yourself (things like microscopes and telescopes), the instrument through which you see God is your whole self. And if a man's self is not kept clean and bright, his glimpse of God will be blurred-like the Moon seen through a dirty telescope. That is why horrible nations have horrible religions: they have been looking at God through a dirty lens.

God can show Himself as He really is only to real men. And that means not simply to men who are individually good, but to men who are united together in a body, loving one another, helping one another, showing Him to one another. For that is what God meant humanity to be like; like players in one band, or organs in one body.”
― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

God I want to know you more and more each and every day. Lord please when I don't spend time with you smack me and make me turn the TV off or whatever I'm thinking is more important. I thank you Lord for holding me accountable to doing these daily blogs about you. I think you for making sure if I lay down and think I can wait until tomorrow to do 2 quotes and you say no get up and talk about Me. I love you for being who you are. God if their is 1 of my facebook friends or family who can't seem to make time to spend with you whether it's reading your Word, or talking to You. Please give them the desire to stop whatever their doing and make time to spend with you daily. Now God please be with my facebook family and friends and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.

God answers prayers in His time

6.1.15 God does answer prayers you just need to wait patiently for Him to answer the prayer in His time.

My facebook friends and family know that I lost my job on 3.27.15 after being there since 2002. Since then I have put in about 70 resumes, but a few weeks ago my daughter Christina sent me an e-mail about a job she thought I might be interested in and so I put my resume in and I prayed God if this is the job you won't be to have then let it be and if not I'll wait for you to find the right one for me. A little while later I got a call to come in and take some tests and interview with them. I did this and I didn't hear anything but I still figured if it was God's will then it would be and if not that was okay also. I e-mailed them last week and they said they were waiting on Frankfort to give them the go ahead and today I got the call that I start on the 16th.

So God does answer prays you just have to wait on Him.

God is a God of love, and He is interested in every detail of our lives. He hears our prayers, and answers every sincere prayer if we meet His conditions. We must not expect that every answer will be "yes", since we are sinners and do not always ask what is best for us.

Psalm 37:5-7 says 'Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.'

Commit your hopes and dreams to God. The most important point to remember is that God loves you. You are His child and He wants the best things for you.

God will work things out in your life if you trust in him. It is possible that you may have to go through certain trials and wait for his answers ... 'And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.' Romans 8:28

Remember, God has plans for your life and wants the best for you. He allowed his Son to die so that your sins could be forgiven. In Jeremiah 29:11 is says ... 'For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

Wait on the Lord. Be patient. Trust in God's perfect timing and he will answer you. Then you will hear him directing you

We need to wait on the Lord and trust that his perfect timing is best. God's word warns us not to try and speed things up and do things in our own strength ... 'There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.' (Proverbs 16:25)

There is a right time for everything. A right time to get married, a right time to have a baby, a right time to do everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says ...'There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.'

Every gift that comes from God is worth waiting for. So be encouraged. Wait patiently on the Lord. Trust in God and He will work things out in your life. God will use you as you are, if you make yourself available to Him. Talk to God today and ask Him to give you the desires of your heart. Our God is an Awesome God!

God I come to you thinking you for the answered prayer for the job. You have been there for me through good and bad, 24-7, I know sometimes we get impatient and don't want to wait on you to answer. That's like what I was saying yesterday it's like we put it in your hands and then take it back. I know we should never put it in your hands and then take it back but I guess Lord that's a part of being human. Now God I ask that you please be with my facebook family and friends and I pray that if they are looking for a job or whatever is on their mind to give it to you and wait for the answer and know that I love you. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen
