Turn it over to God

5.30.15 Turn it over to God
You know what ever you go through in life all you need to do is turn it over to God. Let go and let God. No matter what it is God is always there for you. I remember years ago I use to Cuss and I am 1 person that really don't like those words so I let go and let God and from that day forward God took it away from me. When Ben was a little boy he wanted God to give him something to do for Him, so every Sunday morning @ a Church we went to in VA Ben would go up to the alter by himself and pray and then 1 day he came back to his seat and said God told him what He wanted him to do and that was to sing for God. I saw the tears coming down Ben's cheeks and I asked him what was wrong and he said God told me I'm going to sing for Him. So no matter how big or how small you think something is turn it over to God and let Him handle it.

Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Contained within these two verses are several amazing truths: God will sustain us, He will never let us fall, and He cares for us. Taken one at a time, we see first that God declares both His ability and His willingness to be our strength and support—mentally, emotionally and spiritually. He is able (and best of all, willing!) to take everything that threatens to overwhelm us and use it for our benefit. He has promised to “work all things together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Even at times when we doubt Him, He is still working for our good and His glory.

I'm guilty of the following and I'm not proud of it but I guess that's a part of being human: We often times experience unnecessary anxiety and burdens that we were never meant to carry. He showed her that this occurs when we bring something to God through prayer, but we ultimately end up ‘taking it back’. When we give something to God, it feels wonderful because we are essentially giving the burden, worries, and cares of that thing over to Him. We are doing what Philippians 4:6 instructs us to do which is to, “Not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” And when we do this, (present our requests to Him), we feel an overwhelming peace knowing that it is in His hands, which is what the next verse explains will happen…”And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The problem lies however, when we ‘take back’ that thing that we gave to Him in the first place. Whether it be taking back control of something we surrendered to Him, trying to take care of ourselves in an area, try to figure out our own way, when we initially asked for His direction…All of these things will cause us to take back the very thing that we gave to God.

A normal person prays to God, 'Don't give me problems.' but a great person prays to God, 'Give me the power to face my problems.'

"Give all your problems to God - He'll be up all night anyway!"

When I first heard this saying I instantly thought of all the nights I used to lay in bed worrying, rehashing, or trying to solve all my problems. In fact, before early recovery it was actually easier to sleep because I would use drugs or alcohol or even enmeshment with other people to help distract me. But when I entered the program, it seemed like it was just me and my problems - I didn't get a lot of sleep!

It took a long time for me to develop enough faith to turn my will and my life (and problems) over to my Higher Power. The idea of it sounded good, but it proved very difficult to do in practice. Oh I could turn it over in my morning meditation, but by noon I had usually taken it all back. And by night? Whew! It was just me and my problems again!

As I progressed in my recovery, I learned that the definition of faith is believing what you cannot see, and the reward of faith is seeing what you believe. Through faith and a developing practice of turning situations, people and problems over to God, I've been rewarded with a life that is, for the most part, happy joyous and free.

And now when I go to sleep, I give all my problems to God because my faith tells me he'll be up all night anyway!

God I come to you and I know I'm guilty of giving my problems to you and then taking them back. I come to you asking that you give me the strength to put my problems in your hands and leave them there. You are more equipped to handle them then I am. I love you for being who you are and for loving me like you do. Now please be with my facebook family and friends and know that I love you and God if there's 1 of my facebook family or friends who is having the problem with giving you their worries and taking them back let them know all they have to do is leave them in your hands. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.
