11.26.15 Today's blog is going to be a little different since it's Thanksgiving. 1st off I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
I was looking up what to write about and I found the following:
God clearly spelled out His good and perfect will for us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 when He inspired the Apostle Paul to write: "In everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Did you catch that? In everything. In the good times, as well as the bad. In the pleasantries of life, as well as in the pain. During difficult times, trying times and frustrating times, too.
I got to thinking about how Thanksgiving might be so much more meaningful if I focused on thanking God for the things He rarely hears thanks for. Try this with me this year. Thank Him, not just for the food on the table before you partake, and the "blessings for this past year" but for all the ways He has not performed according to your liking. For all the times He has said "no" and for all the ways He has worked in and through your life, perhaps without you knowing it. Thank Him for all the unresolved issues and the ways you are still waiting for answers. Thank Him—regardless—and see what it does for your soul as you offer Him a heart of obedience and surrender this year. Thank Him—regardless—and see how it moves the others who are around your table. That is so true we always pray when we need something or want something and then we thank Him for the things He does for us but what about the rest of the times?
1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 69:30 - I will praise the name of God with song, And shall magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Okay what I would like to do is ask that if you are thankful for anything then just leave a comment. I will go 1st: I am thankful I woke up this morning, I am thankful for God giving me my loving husband, my 3 children along with the rest of my family and my job.
God I thank You for allowing me to wake another day and spending time with some family members and a Christian brother that we want to welcome into our home on this Thanksgiving Day. Lord be with my facebook family and friends, keep them safe on this day and know I love You. I ask these things in Jesus Name Amen.
